VICTORIA’S LIBRARY READesign
(Tune: America the Beautiful; Lyrics by: Nancy Kaptain)
Oh beautiful for brand new paint
For colors bright and bold;
For beanbag chairs on carpets fresh;
The shelves no longer old.
Two thousand books,
A brand new look,
Our library’s so cool.
It’s sharp; it’s smart
Thanks to your heart,
The jewel of our school.
Oh beautiful for sleek new shelves
To hold the books we love,
New chairs and tables set the scene
To hear the reading of
A Harry Potter Hogwart’s tale
Or Horton Hears a Who
We take delight
To find the old in “new”.
You Really Have Heart
(Tune: from "Damn Yankees" Lyrics by Nancy Kaptain)
You've really got heart.
Yes you really have a heart.
Look at all the lovely things that you've done,
Makes for a fun new start.
You really have heart.
Miles and miles and miles of heart.
So we want to sing you,
"Thank you so much for your special touch.
We're looking smart."
Yes you really have heart. You really have heart.
Yes, you really have heart. Yes you really have heart.
Yes you really have heart.
Target volunteers worked frantically to finish the library in time. All of the tables still had to be assembled, pictures hung, more bookshelves to be built, and books shelved. At 2:10, Mrs. Read still didn't have a desk! It was just like on the TV designer shows - working right up through the last second! But they got it all done - just as they said they would.
At the same time, other volunteers were putting stickers in books and collating them into sets of five to be given to students at the celebration after school.
Other Target volunteers delivered a book bag with two books to each student.
While other volunteers completed items on the teachers' "TO DO" lists.
THANK YOU HEART OF AMERICA AND TARGET!
For not only the new paint, furniture, books, and fun, but for setting the example of volunteering and helping to make a difference in our community. To our students, you are Hero's of the Heart!
We have a friend who is a manager at Target. He told us that these employees really were volunteers. They were not paid by target to spend their time at our school. Seeing how many of them there were and what an amazing job they did was really wonderful. Also a big thank you to Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Read. With out their efforts this would have never taken place.
