SOARing Students' Quilting Club

Fifteen students participated in the "Kids' Quilting Club" during our first session of SOAR (Structured Opportunities for Academics and Recreation). Students worked with Mrs. Read and volunteers from the Riverside Quilting Guild to learn about blocking layout, precise measurements, seam allowances, fabric pressing, basic stitching and piecing, and hand applique.

Our Kids' Quiling Club will present their quilts on Tuesday Night, October 26th to the Riverside Quilting Guild. Their quilts will then be donated to local hospitals.

If you have an talent or hobby that you would like to share with students at Victoria during our after school SOAR Program, please contact me at (951)788-7441 or via email at lanelson@rusd.k12.ca.us.

  2. Mrs. Nelson,
I am inspired by the SOAR program and want to copy the club concept at Emerson. Copying is the greatest flattery, right? Great job designing a wonderful program! You have made Victoria a wonderful place!
